South Bend, Indiana // Katie's Maternity

Katie allowed me to get creative with the light from the sunset and I absolutely am in love with the results. It doesn't hurt that Katie's basically a model of a mom. By the way, that works for more than just her appearance. She is such a great mom to her little boy and I'm so excited for the mom she will be to her new little girl. (Oh, I maybe should have said "spoiler alert" in case you hadn't seen their adorable gender reveal session yet. Oops.) Katie said that she's excited to do everything boys vs. girls. I think that life ahead of them sounds wonderful for the Kings. And I can't help but be excited to say that the newest King is a princess. ;)

South Bend, Indiana // King Family Portraits & Gender Reveal

Family photos are such a precious thing in my eyes. They may be a luxury, but I can't help but think that everyone needs them, even to document the little things like playing on a slide. Thank you to the King family of now four for allowing me the honor of capturing these moments. I hope they are something you can look back on for years to come and remember all the little moments as your children were growing up that were filled with smiles, laughter, and even the tears that brought you growth. You are such a beautiful family inside and out.

Oak Openings MetroPark, Ohio // Peter & Rachel // Engaged

I also got pretty excited when Peter and Rachel agreed to adventure with me to Oak Openings Preserve MetroPark in northern Ohio. I had fallen in love with random photos of it that I had seen on different social medias and hunted through Google Maps for it, looking from street view to satellite view to some geo-tagged photospheres. I mean business! haha We found and fell in love with it. :) (Apparently, we weren't the only ones to hunt for this amazing location; when location scouting, we ran into someone from Australia who was also specifically looking for this spot!)

Yosemite National Park // Personal

Yosemite—goodness gracious it's beautiful. And we saw it on a foggy/snowy/rainy/cloudy/sunny day. I would definitely suggest going to Yosemite, as I'm sure you've heard before. Yes, all that everyone has said about it is true; it is an absolute must see! My heart is excited for the day when I can be as cool as my cousins and hike Half Dome. Really, I'd take just seeing it again. :)

Shoot and Share Photo Contest

At the beginning of the year there was a photo contest held by Shoot & Share that had photographers participating from all 50 states and 120 countries with a total of 225,207 photos entered into 25 categories. Yeah, that's some stiff competition!

It's been a bit since the contest and finding the results, but for some reason I've just been enjoying this myself. That's kinda silly. So, please join me in the excitement that I did so well in such an amazing photo competition alongside so many amazing photographers!

Oswego, IL // Hannah & The Full Color Life

I appreciate that Hannah lets me try new things. This adventure involved busting out my new flash set-up and playing around. I prefer not to use flash during my sessions, but on wedding days you never know how the light might treat you. I want to be ready for whatever is thrown my way. :) Oh, did I mention another variable we worked with? Rain. Yup, we took on the challenge of a rainy, dreary day and even did some of our session in the almost complete darkness of night. I wanted to take a behind the scenes photo for you guys with my phone, but...uhh...I couldn't...cause it was dark. haha

The Adventures of Corrie and Ty 2015

My husband and I have a love for adventure. In fact, when he asked me to marry him he asked if I'd like to join him on a lifelong adventure. :) And that's what we do, we love, we travel, and we try new things all along the way. And me being me, I love to photograph the journey.

This year, I talked Ty into taking a monthly photo with me. (It really didn't take much convincing.) This a collection of those photos from this past year. :)

Carillon Historical Park, Dayton, Ohio // Cara's Portraits

One of my favorite things about photographing Cara was how our morning photographing made her feel. I was overjoyed to see this on Instagram, "Oh my! This girl! I've been admiring @corriemick and her photography work for some time. I finally scheduled my session and spent this morning with her getting my photos done. She made me feel like a million bucks and like I was the most beautiful woman in the world. I had the time of my life. She is one of the kindest, sweetest, most genuine people I have had the privilege of knowing. Corrie, thanks so much for today. I'll remember it forever." Oh my heart. Thank you, Cara! :D

Dayton, Ohio // Jon & Kylyn Engaged

This past weekend just happened to be the year anniversary of Jon & Kylyn reconnecting after some time and distance separating them. A rekindled friendship grew into love and it didn't take long for these two to know that their future would be better together.

Oswego, Illinois Maternity // Becky & Baby Cintineo

One of my favorite reasons I love photographing people is that I have the opportunity to capture memories, times that you will always want to hold a glimpse of. Having a baby is definitely one of those times and I am so glad I could capture it for my sister. I can't wait for my niece or nephew to arrive here soon! (They're keeping the gender a surprise even from themselves, and aren't sharing their name ideas. Last I heard Mephibosheth was top of the list.haha) ;)

Plainfield, Illinois // Hannah and The Full Color Life

Hannah and I decided to switch things up a bit and photograph a little closer to home instead of in the big city. We picked the cute little downtown of Plainfield, Illinois and it's Electric Park. (You should look up the history of Plainfield's Electric Park! Here's a link. ;) I wish every town had something like that was in its heyday.) I hadn't been in that area just to walk through it in ages, but it was a great little blast from the past as we wandered.
