Lakeside Cliff Portraits // Spokane, Washington Adventure Photographer
I have to admit that while I LOVE the rain and green of Western Washington and Oregon, the dry Eastern portions of the states have not been that enticing to me. I do enjoy visiting deserts, especially if they have the tall saguaros or the blooming agave that I love in the Southwest. Well, we recently encountered a few difficulties with our RV while exploring Western Washington. Meaning, we got the dreaded roof leak and humidity issues. So we escaped to some BLM land near Spokane, Washington to dry out. I would take our dog on hikes around the area, one led me to the edge of a cliff overlooking a cute little lake.
I only discovered the cliff above the lake two days before we were to leave. I marked it down on my list of locations I’ve been gathering on our travels of where I’d love to photograph someone. Well, as I was gathering everything together to be ready to leave in the morning, I had the itch that I really needed to photograph someone there as soon as possible. Well, I only knew one couple in the area, Rebecca and Curtis. We went to the same college and Rebecca graduated a couple years behind me from the ASL Interpreting Department.
I reached out to Rebecca in the afternoon with the slightest hope that she and her handsome man would be available that evening at the last minute to model for me in my newfound photography location. I loved her response; "SHUT UP! Heck yes!!!!!!" 😍😍 Yayy!!! She had an hour to drive home from work and then she and Curtis hoped in the car and drove another hour out to me. We had the last half hour of light and made it count!
Rebecca and Curtis are SO cute together and it was an absolute blast photographing them. They were up for anything and were, of course, adorable doing it all. I’m so grateful they were willing to drive out at the last minute and share the last bit of light with me and create memories they’ll look back on for years to come.
